BMW Introduces Brand New Intelligent SOS Call System for Bikes

by SpeedLux

Motorcyclists can now spec their brand-new BMW with an Intelligent Emergency Call device.

In case of a severe accident, the system automatically sends an SOS informing the emergency services and providing them the bike’s specific position.

If the accident is not extreme, the system will prepare to call for help, but will just do so if the rider doesn’t reject the command under 25 seconds.

A rider experiencing an accident can use the system to call for help, and do so in his/her native language, no matter where worldwide they’re riding.

Emergency situation call systems have shown to save lives by lowering the response time of emergency services and changing them ahead of time as to the seriousness of a mishap.

From 2018 they will be obligatory on all brand-new cars offered in Europe.

However, the required fitting of these devices to powered two-wheel vehicles is still in the consultation phase.
