Volkswagen will begin importing automobiles to Iran next month, going back to the resurgent Middle Eastern market after 17 years in a relocation that may help the German automaker trim reliance on unstable overseas markets such as China and Brazil.

The privately-owned regional partner Mammut Khodro – who is also the official Iranian importer for the Group’s Scania brand – is going to import Volkswagen brand vehicles.

Volkswagen has signed an agreement with Iran’s Mammut Khodro to import automaker’s brand models Tiguan and Passat by means of eight dealerships, concentrating on the higher Tehran area, Volkswagen stated.

Mammut Group was founded in 1995 and is one of the biggest private industrial companies and employers in the country.
