The current model of the BMW 6 series has been given a face lift two years ago and that means that the next 2012 BMW 6 Series Coupe and Convertibles can only be expected to hit the showrooms early next year and not before that.
Spy photographers however have captured pot shots of the prototype of the new car as they were being tested near BMW’s headquarters in Munich or even when they were doing their rounds around the Nurburgring circuit. There is also availability of photos of the new 2012 BMW 6 series convertible where the photo shows most of its features.
There are clear and distinct differences that can be noticed between the spy shots of the Coupe and the convertible. For one the rear side windows are of a different shape on the two cars. There is the difference of the roof profile also and the rear window on the Coupe can be noticed as a slightly wider one than that of the convertible.
All these differences indicates there are going to be two separate 6 Series models that BMW is manufacturing much unlike what happened in case of the later Z4 Roadster. The Z4 only has a folding roof top to its credit in difference. The 6 series Coupe and the convertible would however be sold with a soft roof top.
The current 6 series has been a runaway success with sales of 20,000 cars per year. In order to ensure that sales figures are not effected in any adverse manner BMW designers have kept the new styling to a sleeker wider look giving it s an added purposeful appearance.
The interior also is going to feature a lot of luxury attachments. An eight speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters is being fitted. The engine is going to be same old one.

Are they really doing this car in a soft top. If this car isn’t built with a hard top, that’s a shame
