It seems that Honda “kept its word”, because after the picture of a tunnel with the text “An all new CR-V is coming”, the first picture of the new CR-V generation was released, in concept form.
The new 2012 Honda CR-V isn’t set to go on sale until the end of the year, but the new crossover has been previewed in concept form and it’s safe to say the upcoming production version will closely resemble the lines seen here today.
“With a new design, both inside and out, new features and new possibilities, the 2012 CR-V will set a new standard for the class”, says a Honda press release.
So far no technical details were released, but expect front-wheel drive as standard, as well as a naturally-aspirated 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with output ranging somewhere between 180 and 200 horsepower. Fuel economy should also better the 21/28 mpg city/highway of the front-wheel drive model found in the current lineup. All-wheel drive versions should return slightly worse figures.
Also the debut date has not been specified yet, but the production 2012 Honda CR-V should go on sale at the end of the year, most likely with a debut at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show this November.
In the photo gallery below you can watch the first official picture with 2012 Honda CR-V Concept and, beside this, some spy shots taken a week ago by Motor Authority’s spy photographers.
