Although until now, the concept of the new V40 was merely made out of rumors, Volvo recently released some official images of their new car.
They probably mean to take a hold of the medium and compact car industry by releasing this vehicle for purchase. The 2012 V40 contains elements from a multitude of their cars: the front fascia looks a lot like the S60 (although the headlights and bumper are new) and the rear looks a bit like their XC60. While we’re on this subject, I need to point out the fact that the overall design is similar to the one of the 2007 Ford Fiesta. Coincidence? Maybe. Even if it is cribbage, at least Volvo put some work in the rear part (especially the rear lights) design.
Sadly, there isn’t any information available on the engine. Nevertheless, two large exhausts are visible, which means that the V40 will probably get a lot of power.
Some of the cars that the Volvo V40 will compete with after the release are the BMW 1 Series, the Audi A3 and the Mercedes A-Class, which are all heavyweight compact vehicles.
This year’s Volvo V40 will be released at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show next month. That’s probably when we’ll get more information regarding, well, everything about this car.
