EPA has recently released fuel economy numbers for the 2014 U.S. spec BMW 328d lineup through its FuelEconomy.gov website.
The company however did not publish the mileage figures for the 328d model but EPA says that it will do 32 mpg in city and 45 mpg in highway, which means 37 mpg for the combined cycle. These figures are applicable for the rear-wheel drive model, whereas the xDrive variant does 31 mpg city / 43 mpg hwy and 35 mpg combined. BMW is offering the 328d in an xDrive Sports Wagon version which will return the same mileage as the all-wheel drive sedan.
The 2014 BMW 328d is set to reach the dealerships this fall and is powered by a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder turbodiesel engine producing 181 hp (135 kW) at 4,000 rpm and 280 lb-ft (379 Nm) of torque between 1,750 and 2,750 rpm. Power is transferred to the rear axle or all wheels through an eight-speed auto transmission.
In terms of pricing, rear-wheel drive sedan starts off at 38,600 USD, while the xDrive version will come with a starting price of 40,600 USD. The 328d Sports Wagon is available exclusively in the xDrive version and starts from 42,950 USD.
