The ongoing 2013 Shanghai Auto Show saw the launch of the 2014 Maserati Ghibli by Maserati. The 2014 Ghibli is the first Maserati that comes with a diesel engine and is co-developed with former Ferrari chief motorist Paolo Martinelli.
The car comes with a 3.0-liter V6 turbo engine capable of producing 275 HP (202 kW) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque. The car can accelerate to 62 mph (100 kmph) in 6.3 seconds and can return 47 mpg UK (39.2 mpg US or 6 liters / 100 km) with CO2 emissions of less than 160 g/km.
The company will also produce and sell the Ghibli with a V6 3.0-liter twin-turbo gasoline engine capable of generating 330 HP (243 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque. This model will be able to achieve the speed of 62 mph in just 5.6 seconds and will return 29.4 mpg UK (24.5 mpg US or 9.6 liters / 100 km).
If that was not enough, there is yet another variant, Ghibli S, which is more powerful capable of generating 410 HP (301 kW) at 5,500 rpm and 550 Nm (405 lb-ft) of torque from 1,750 rpm with the same engine. The car will be able to touch 62 mph in just 5 seconds and has a top speed of 177 mph (285 kmph).
Irrespective of the variant selected, all engines are will be mated to an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission gearbox.
In Europe (excluding UK) the car will be available with a Q4 all-wheel drive system which the company claims that it will be able to provide the responsiveness of a rear-wheel drive alongwith the added security that only an all-wheel drive will be able to bring in critical situations.
