2014 Volkswagen Golf R spied, to have 286 hp

by SpeedLux

Secret images of the Golf R has been snapped and new details are coming out about the upcoming model.

Already it has been labelled as the most powerful Golfs offered ever, the model have a 2.0-liter TSI engine that gives 286 bhp (213 kW) and 280 lb-ft (379 Nm) of torque. It will send power to the ground via a 5th generation Haldex all-wheel drive system. This helps the models equipped with a dual-clutch transmission to speed up from 0-100 km/h in roughly 5.0 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).

Due to the enhanced performance, the model is likely to be more fuel efficient due to the MQB platform and lightweight bodywork. This could enable the hatchback to weigh 1200 kg (2645 lbs) and average 40.4 mpg UK (33.6 mpg US / 7.0 L/100km).

The Volkswagen Golf R most probably would be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show, before being launched in early 2014.

The Golf is a very smart and dynamic vehicle and it would give its rivals sleepless nights since it is the most powerful machine ever built by Volkswagen.
