The S90 is the car that was conceptualized by Nouphone J. Bansasine while still studying at the Volvo Monitoring and Concept Center, which later won the technical sanction from Volvo.
Things that make the S90 to stand out of its predecessors include an aggressive front end and its fastback roof line. The S90 has been aerodynamically designed so that it slips though the air and is heralded as a stylish successor to the current S80 that has often been blamed to be too bland in its make up. Volvo is pinning its hope on the new S90 in its pursuit of positioning itself as the makers of mid-range luxury cars that exude style and is able to take on the best from anywhere in the world.
Volvo already has a 3-Series challenger in the new S60 sedan and it definitely is in the need of a car that’s has the looks of a CLS but would sport a price tag of an E-Class to make sure it production lines remains busy.
However, with the S90 being nothing more than just a design study, there has been no official word as regards the power train. Even then,it would perhaps be safe to assume the S90 to come with hybrid power which should be good news for crusaders for green and may have an all-wheel-drive system to keep the speed maniacs happy.
If things indeed shapes up this way then maybe Volvo is in safe hands.
