Ford has showcased a 2015 F-150 equipped with a snow plow at the Chicago Auto Show.
This model is more than just for show as the company has plans to actually offer a snow plow prep option for the 2015 F-150 once the model will hit dealerships towards the end of the year. Developed in-house by Ford, the snow plow will be available on all cab configurations (Regular, SuperCab and SuperCrew) but only with the V8 5.0-liter engine and a four-wheel drive system.
Those customers who are interested in the snow plow kit will have to take their F-150 to a Ford Qualified Vehicle Modifier to buy and install the additional hardware. The company has informed that the maximum light-duty plow weight will be over 450 lbs (204 kg). It can be installed on the XL, XLT and Lariat trim levels and activating the snow plow mode will be done by simply pressing a button mounted inside the cabin which will turn off nonessential features in order to deliver more power to the plow.
The company has however not disclosed anything about the pricing of the snow plow and it can be expected that the same will be disclosed later this year, closer to the F-150’s market launch.
