The German automaker, Volkswagen, has made an official announcement, confirming that the company will no longer consider building the successor to its Eos coupe/cabriolet vehicle model. Sure, this may turn out as a rather upsetting bit of information for fans of the automaker, especially those who particularly love the VW Eos. However, it seems that the German company can’t keep on offering customers with the vehicle model in question due to the low volume of sales the model has been receiving so far.
For your information, it was still 2006 when the German automaker first introduced the Eos to the global automotive market. The car came with a retractable hard top at that time and at the moment, such a vehicle with a retractable hard top was very popular among car buyers. Unfortunately, it did not take long before sales volume in this segment drastically dropped, forcing VW to bear quite a considerable amount of losses. This was the very reason why the German automaker decided in the year 2014 to eventually let the public know its plan of killing the vehicle model in question. However, before it really does that, the German company is determined to release yet another model, but only for the US market. This final model is appropriately dubbed the 2015MY Final Edition VW Eos.
As reported by the Autocar, Heinz-Jakob Neusser, the technical boss at VW, reveals at this year’s NAIAS that the company no longer plans to build any more Eos models in the future. In addition to that, the company won’t be offering any new vehicle models, either. This is most likely caused by the high volume of criticisms out there that accuse the German automaker of having too many vehicle lineups in its dealerships around the world.
So, it is time to say goodbye to the Eos successor, in case you happen to be waiting for the car.
