BMW has recently announced its plans to introduce the Active Tourer Outdoor Concept at the 2013 OutDoor exhibition in Friedrichshafen in Germany.
The company did not release any pictures of the concept but the model will debut on July 12 and meet the special needs of outdoor enthusiasts. BMW has even hinted that the car combines comfort and dynamic design with a high level of spatial functionality and intelligent access to BMW ConnectedDrive services.
Not much detail is available as of now but the original Active Tourer Concept featured a plug-in hybrid powertrain which consisted of a 1.5-liter TwinPower Turbo engine, an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery. They combined generated power in excess of 190 HP (140 kW) and 200 Nm (147 lb-ft) of torque. The model can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in under eight seconds and hit a top speed of around 200 kmph and travel more than 30 km (18.6 miles) on electricity alone.
