BMW i3 returns in more spy shots

by SpeedLux

One of the photographers could manage to spy the BMW i3 yet again just ahead of an upcoming official launch slated for July 29th. In the photo, the model looked almost undisguised and lot more could be seen than some of the earlier pictures.

On the basis of the current and earlier spy photos that have been published last week, we can say that this is the hybrid version equipped with a range-extending engine. It will reportedly make use of a 0.65-liter, two-cylinder motorcycle engine and would be able to provide a total range of 186 miles (300 km), which is lot more than the pure electric engine which is estimated to have a range somewhere between 88 miles (130 km) and 99 miles (160 km).

Though not visible from these images, the right side of the car has two caps which indicate there is also a gas tank fitted. Another difference between the EV and the REx variant is the difference in the alloy wheel design which looks more attractive on the range-extender model version.

Overall the model looks really attractive and we will have to wait and see what hype it is able to create at the time of launch and thereafter as well.
