The racing division of the luxury German automaker BMW, the BMW Motorsport, has taken the liberty of giving out a number of images that depict the M6 GT3 model from the luxury German marquee. If reports are to be believed, the car will actually start to take part in an official race come the year 2016.
Yet, as of the moment, the car is still undergoing a factory test. Speaking of the test, it started somewhere around the end of January this year. The test started at Dingolfing in Germany and it then moved on to Monteblanco, Spain and Portimao, Portugal, at which point the BMW works drivers carried out even more tests towards the GT3-spec M6 Coupe from BMW. The car is scheduled for both national and international racing series starting from the year 2016. As a matter of fact, the car is even scheduled to take part in some endurance racing series as well.
The car will reportedly have a weight that is less than 1,300 kg. In addition to that, it will also pack a 4.4L V8 engine with twin turbochargers under the hood. According to reports, the road-going BMW M6 will also be modified to make it suitable for use on the track and that it will have dry slump lubrication. This vehicle is allegedly going to have a 6-speed sequential transmission system and a total power output of 500 bhp.
If you pay close attention to the adjacent official images from BMW, you may even notice as well that the body of the vehicle now comes with a more optimized aerodynamic body. In addition, its interior has been stripped out as well for the sole purpose of reducing excess weight. Featuring a rather wide design for the body, the car looks aggressive. Add that aggressive look to such elements as the LED headlamps, a ventilated engine hood, a prominent rear diffuser and also a largely sized rear wing spoiler and there seems to be nothing else you could possibly want.
