The No. 1 premium-brand in global car sales in May is Bmw

by Alex

Mercedes Benz proclaimed themselves of having surpassed Audi in its global monthly sales for the first time this year mainly on account of a resurgent demand in China.

But the rise in sales, it seems, weren’t enough to topple BMW which continues to retain its top slot having sold 375 units more than Mercedes-Benz for the month of May. It also retains the crown in Germany where BMW has been the highest selling car brand since January.

As for Mercedes Benz, its E-Class and S-Class models found increased acceptance among buyers and it is this that Mercedes says has made the difference. Volkswagen AG was able to sell more of its cars than Mercedes Benz and continues to do so. Mercedes Benz had since then been relegated to the third spot. However, the tables turned for the month of May as Mercedes Benz was able to sell 6,500 cars more than Audi. But the game is still in favor of Audi as leads with 12,300 units more than Mercedes-Benz in five months time period.
