As per a recent report, BMW’s modular UKL front-wheel drive platform will supposedly be the basis for the Z2 which is being considered as a successor of the Z3.
We all very well know by now that UKL will be used for the all-new MINI and five/seven-seat versions of the 1-Series GT. It will also underpin the next generation of the 1-Series, X1 and a three-door coupe-like version of the X1 which will come with the X2 moniker.
There are quite a few chances that it will also be the foundation for a front-wheel drive Z2 featuring just about the same proportions as the Z3. The BMW Z2 is due in 2016 and will come fitted with the turbocharged 3-cylinder, 1.5-liter and 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter engines.
Talking about the power, the most powerful version will supposedly be able to generate an output of 300 hp (224 kW) while the most frugal version will be equipped with a 3-cylinder diesel and will be emitting less than 100 g/km of CO2.
There is no official word on pricing by the company but we expect that the 2016 BMW Z2 is expected to kick off from a little over 20,000 GBP (about 31,000 USD or 23,300 EUR).
