Current Generation BMW M3 Sold Out

by SpeedLux

BMW M-Division Boss Friedrich Nitschke has recently revealed in an interview that the current generation M3 has been sold out worldwide.

The current generation BMW M3 will remain in production for another six months, but all cars have already been accounted for as stated by the company and so according to him the car has been completely sold out.

He clearly downplayed the possibility of an all-wheel drive version of the M3 and the reason he stated was that such a modification would require too much of a compromise in the M3’s performance. Also considering the fact that the sales of Audi’s RS line of all-wheel drive performance vehicles are nowhere near the level of BMWs, Nitschke has little reason to go for an AWD option.

Speaking about the engines he stated in the interview that any future engines installed in the M-badged cars will be more closely related to the engines of core BMW models, but will be modified for the specific needs of M customers. He also stated that there are quite likely chances of a high performance three-cylinder engine in the future that would be specifically tuned for M division vehicles. A three cylinder engine is a lightweight engine and is capable of providing a massive performance boost in weight savings alone.
