Paris Motor Show witnessed many hybrid models and concept cars this year. Lamborghini Asterion LPI910-4 concept is the first on its kind hybrid from the Italian maker. The preview at 2014 Paris Motor Show, where the Greek name Lamborghini was unwrapped, showcased this plug-in hybrid. The name LPI is an Italian acronym and 910 is the horsepower. The nomenclature of this model also signifies 4, meaning that it is an all-wheel drive. Stephen Winkelmann, the CEO of Lamborghini, explained that Asterion is taken from Greek mythology.
It is based on Minotaur, a cross between a man and a bull–whose proper name was Asterion. It is being called hyper cruiser because of its top speed, which is 200 miles per hour.
First impressions after the unwrapping reveal the innovative design and technology. Both front wheels are powered by dedicated electric engines in this super sports car. The curves and smooth panels make it look extremely desirable. There are three driving modes in this hybrid: Z, I and T. Here ‘Z’ stands for zero local-emission running, ‘I’ stands for Ibrido and ‘T’ stands for Termico (means thermal power). The car runs up to 30 miles in top speed, when in all-electric mode. The Italian company has demonstrated their in-house technology, with concept cars and this Hybrid stood out as favorite.
