Ford Motor reported an 11.7 percent drop in October car sales in the United States, led by a decrease in sales of vehicles such as the Mustang and Ford Fusion sedan.
October car sales in the United States dropped to 188,813 from 213,938 a year previously, the automaker stated.
The No. 2 U.S. car manufacturer’s October sales missed out on Autodata Corp’s estimate of 208,259 automobiles. Autodata, a market body, tracks new automobile deliveries.
Total U.S. vehicle sales dropped 5.8 percent to 1,372,320 automobiles in October, Autodata reported, with the seasonally changed annualized rate of sales reaching 18.02 million automobiles.
Ford is reporting sales a day behind the rest of the market.
A fire on Monday at the Detroit-based car manufacturer’s head office cut off power to a data center the automaker and its dealerships use to report and record sales.
