Brands like Mercedes-Benz and BMW are very well known for their innovations. Now, the latter has even come with a new feature to offer to buyers of its future vehicle lineups. The luxury German automaker is determined to be the very first automaker in the entire world to offer such a feature as in-car store. This feature will enable the company’s loyal customers to make purchases right from inside the car, making use of the company’s ConnectedDrive system. It is said that future BMW owners will be able to use the system to purchase things like services or even apps.
In addition to that, the luxury German automaker will make other sales channels available as well, by means of either the BMW Assist call center or the company’s dealerships that are scattered throughout the globe.
It is worth noting, though, that not all of the in-car store features will be available when the new system is launched. According to the Bavarian automaker, during the launch of the new ConnectedDrive in-car store, it will cover things like the Concierge. As its name implies, this will provide future BMW owners with practical guide and information, such as, finding hotels, restaurants, cinemas or other points of interest (POI). The Concierge feature is available to send the address of a chosen POI automatically.
In addition to that, the Concierge feature is also said to be capable of making emergency phone calls on behalf of the car owners, just in case something goes wrong and owners of the future BMW vehicles can’t get their hands on their phone. Navigation Map Updates and internet connection are also included as the features that the company will make available on its ConnectedDrive system in the future and they can be accessed using the vehicle’s onboard iDrive controller.
According to the luxury German automaker, when owners of future BMW models log into the the company’s ConnectedDrive in-car store, the system will display a number of apps and services available. Then, the car owners will have the option to either purchase these items or use them right away if they have purchased them before. It takes only minutes to use these items once they have been purchased.
Well, this is not the Google Play Store and neither is it the Apple App Store. Still, it is an interesting innovation from the luxury German automotive brand.
