The vehicle is entering into production, it’s just a matter of time before Hyundai makes the official announcement.
Speaking with Australian press at the Detroit Car Show, Hyundai U.S.A CEO Dave Zuchowski said that he was still arranging a decision for when the official news would be made however that there there is no doubt whether the Santa Cruz is visiting head to manufacturing or not.
It’s motivating to learn through the CEO that we’ll be hearing a main announcement quickly.
In manufacturing form, we expect the Santa Cruz to only offer one configuration-a four-door, SUV-based pick-up with an extendable bed and also seating for 5. As far as lugging capacity goes, it needs to be able to pull a jet ski or a couple dirtbikes, yet don’t anticipate it to pull more than 2,500 extra pounds. Its capacities are meant to be a lot more in line with a portable crossover, besides, not a full-size pickup.
“Santa Cruz is planned to attract CUV [SUV] and sedan customers that are looking for better utility, without the compromises that conventional vehicles often require,” Zuchowski informed reporters.
If that target demographic seems much like the one Honda is planning to attract with the new Honda Ridgeline, it is, but both vehicles most likely will not be direct competitors-we expect the Santa Cruz to be both smaller as well as much cheaper compared to the Honda car/truck.
