There may not be many people out there who are actually aware that the luxury German automaker, BMW, is actually prepping a new model. The new model will reportedly be a successor to the company’s 1-Series vehicle lineups, for the sedan version. Recently, the car had been caught on camera as the German automotive marquee was evaluating in under the cold weather.
Honestly speaking, when it was caught on camera, the car wore a very heavy camouflage. Yet, it seems that the car in question will be borrowing plenty of styling cues from the company’s 1-Series hatchback facelift. The latter, by the way, made its official debut only one month earlier.
If reports are to be believed, the upcoming 1-Series sedan from the German company is going to feature a front-wheel-drive (FWD) drivetrain. It is also reported that the car will take advantage of the UKL chassis. This is the chassis that BMW has chosen to use on the Gran Tourer as well as the Active Tourer variants of its 2-Series vehicle lineups. Needless to say, the car is least likely to amaze purists. Hence, hopefully, the German marquee will make the all-wheel-drive (AWD) drivetrain available as an option for higher end variants of the model.
So far, there is no official information available just yet when it comes to the engine options that BMW will offer to customers that purchase its upcoming 1-Series sedan model. However, chances are, customers will be able to choose between a 1.5L or 2.0L petrol or diesel engine. This engine may come with either three or four cylinders. In addition to that, the engines may also benefit from the German automaker’s TwinPower Turbo technology. If this happens to be the case, then customers can expect a power output ranging from 116-231 PS and a torque that ranges from 220-400 Nm.
