by SpeedLux

Some of the preliminary details about the 2014 BMW M3 and M4 Coupe have surfaced on the internet, ahead of a probable market launch next year.

One of the sources has disclosed some of the important details about the new M3 which will share its engine with the M4 lineup. The source has informed that the cars will come with an output of more than 425 HP (312 kW) and 370 lb-ft (501 Nm) of torque, that will most likely be derived from an inline-six S55 twin-turbo engine. The output will be transferred to the wheels via a six-speed manual transmission gearbox or an optional seven-speed M DCT Drivelogic transmission.

The same source has even mentioned that everyone will be impressed with the weight and so we can expect the new M3 to be significantly lighter as there are reports already that state that it may lose up to 100 kg. This will be possible by installing a carbon fiber hood, roof and trunk, along with implementation of various other weight-saving techniques.

Well we can expect more details about the all-new M3 and M4 models to be disclosed very shortly.
