McLaren Teases the Sports Series Yet Again

by SpeedLux

It is no longer a secret that the automotive brand from the Great Britain, McLaren, is going to offer customers with entry level vehicle lineups known as the Sports Series. After previous unveiling, the British company has now released a new video clip teasing the aforementioned vehicle lineups. As pointed out by the British marquee, the new entry level lineups are going to make its debut when the New York Auto Show kicks off this year.

Well, there are no further details disclosed alongside the new teaser video clip. However, it had already been unveiled before that the Sports Series would be coming from a slot that would be located at the bottom range offered by the British marquee. That said, the Sports Series will slot under the Super Series – which consists of the McLaren 675LT, 650S and 625C – and, apparently, the Ultimate Series. The latter comprises the McLaren P1 and P1 GTR. Rumor has it the new vehicle model from the company’s Sports Series lineups will benefit from a carbon fiber monocoque body. Its power, on the other hand, is said to be sourced from a 3.8L V8 engine with twin turbochargers. It is believed that this will give the vehicle a total power beyond 500 bhp.

It is also said that in order to complete the 0-100km/h acceleration, four seconds should do the trick with the new vehicle model. The car will also keep on picking up speed until it achieves the mark of 290 km/h.

In the United States, the car is reportedly going to bear a price tag of at least $180,000. However, McLaren has actually made it official that it is planning to sell no more than 2,000 examples of the model in the oncoming 2016. This, as the company points out, will still keep the brand exclusive.
