You probably already watched videos of Ken Block, Tanner Foust, Brian Deeganor Vaughn Gittin Jr. perform various acts of insanity with teir cars and think you can do much better. Well, now Ford is giving you the chance to prove it. The car maker has just unveiled its new Octane Academy, which will pair fans up with their favorite maniacal driver for a little on-track training.
“Today’s Millennial generation is extremely influential so our job is finding new and inventive ways of communicating and connecting with them, which includes building our presence in the multibillion-dollar world of extreme sports,” said Jim Farley, Ford group vice president, Global Marketing, Sales and Service. “With an all-star lineup of drivers and vehicles, Ford is bringing fans directly into the excitement of action sports in a way only Ford can with the first-ever dedicated consumer experience for this energetic and expressive audience.”
All you need to do is a video that shows why you’re better than the rest and fit for a weekend of challenges. The winners of this contest will be selected to compete against other cars addicts before a final champion is selected. Those who beat out the rest on their respective team will take home big prizes, including a specially-designed vehicle penned by Block, Foust, Gittin Jr. or Deegan.
“Getting the chance to create my own challenges for the hardcore competitors who want to take on the challenge of Ford Octane Academy is going to be crazy,” said Deegan. “I can’t wait to bring the competitors to my spot, The Compound, to give them the ultimate Ford action sports adventure.”
The first camp gets underway in November of 2011, and the contest is currently open and awaiting your video submission.
