No RWD Lamborghini Aventador in the works

by SpeedLux

Even though nobody really expected a Rear Wheel Driven Lamborghini Aventador to actually be made, people had their hopes up after the introduction of the RWD Huracan (LP580-2). However, in an interview with Autocar, the R&D director at Lamborghini has made it abundantly clear that the automaker has no plans of producing an RWD version of the legendary Aventador.

The Aventador has a 6.5 Litre V12 and produces 690 HP and 507 lb-ft of torque in it’s standard configuration issue, and 740 HP in the SV variant. With a 4WD system as well as 7-speed transmission system. The car truly is legendary and amazing in every sense of that word.

The reasoning that Mr. Maurizio Reggiani, head of the Research and Development operations at Lamborghini has come forth with is that the power and torque could not possibly be handled in an RWD variant. Mr. Maurizio further adds that a 4-wheel drive system is the only way that the Aventador can continue to churn out the power that it produces while providing a seamless supercar driving experience.
