Report: Lamborghini Gallardo replacement not coming until 2015

by David Bond

Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Asia Series coordinator Cristiano Inverni has recently revealed some new details of the replacement model of Gallardo.

Speaking in an interview, Inverni stated that they were looking to launch the replacement of the Gallardo in the year 2015 and so this model would have also a racing version and that it will be a new car. So from 2015 onwards they will continue racing under the Lamborghini brand but now with a new car.

He did not reveal further details about the model but when pressed for more details about the replacement model, Inverni laughed and stated that he couldn’t confirm the model if it would be called the Cabrera citing the reason as “because I really don’t know.”

Regardless of what the name will be finalized and kept, the Gallardo replacement is alleged to have a light carbon fiber body and aluminum spaceframe. It will also supposedly come fitted with naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine that would be able to generate output of approximately 600 hp (447 kW) and 400 lb-ft (541 Nm) of torque.
