Volkswagen slaps 110,000 EUR price tag on the XL1 in Germany

by SpeedLux

Volkswagen has recently announced the pricing of XL1 for Germany and it will come with a whopping price tag of 110,000 EUR.

The XL1 can be said as one of VW’s most interesting models in recent time thanks mostly to its extremely low fuel consumption figure of just 0.9 liters / 100 km (261 mpg US or 313 mpg UK) and having equally low CO2 emissions of just 20 g/km. The plug-in hybrid comes with a tiny two-cylinder TDI engine generating 48 HP (35 kW) which works together with electric motor outputting 27 HP (20 kW) and a 5.5 kWh lithium-ion battery.

As per the company the XL1 will be able to complete the 0-62 mph sprint in 12.7 seconds and will be able to hit a limited top speed of 100 mph (162 kmph). Actually an unrestricted car would theoretically be able to hit a top speed of 130 mph (209 kmph) but the production vehicle will have the speed limiter activated in order to increase fuel efficiency. The XL1 will be able to provide an all-electric range of up to 31 miles (50 km).

The production would be limited to just 200 units and while it would be priced at 110,000 EUR in Germany, it will be priced at around 100,000 GBP in UK.
