As the global warming and greenhouse effect are becoming worse over the course of time, it is only natural that everyone tries to be friendlier to the environment. This is exactly what the automakers of the world are doing as well. As in the case of the German automaker Volkswagen Group (VW), the company has recently made an official statement. According to the company, within the years to come, it will be offering no less than 20 vehicle models for the customers in the Chinese automotive market. The best thing about these vehicles is that they are all going to run purely on electricity. In other words, they are eco-friendly cars.
This statement has come from Jochem Heizmann, the person at the helm of the Chinese division of the Volkswagen Group. With that being said, it is safe to say that this is a highly accurate bit of information. Heizmann claims that the company will be making a diverse range of EVs, ranging from small, compact cars to larger ones, such as an SUV. Yet, for those who may not really fancy the idea of owning a purely electric vehicle (EV), the company is also going to have them covered. VW has also planned to offer the Chinese customers with other options, including plug-in hybrids. After all, according to VW, the Chinese people are determined to have no less than five million units of eco-friendly cars and they expect to achieve it by the year 2020. Well, considering the present economy growth rate of the country, this is very possible.
As for VW, it seems that this will be a good opportunity for the German player to catch up behind its rivals. EVs are no longer something new for companies like BMW (Germany) with its i3 and i8 model ranges, Nissan (Japan) with its Leaf lineups and Tesla (America) with its Model S.
