2010-2011 MY Subaru Legacy and Outback Recalled Due Windshield Wiper Problem

by Ionut Dragomir

The Japanese automaker Subaru is recalling certain model year 2010-2011 Outback and Legacy vehicles manufactured from January 7, 2010, through May 20, 2011. The car maker says faulty components inside the wiper motor’s bottom cover could overheat.

According to the Japanese manufacturer, “IF THE BOTTOM COVER OVERHEATS, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS MAY BECOME INOPERABLE, REDUCING THE OPERATORS VISIBILITY, WHICH MAY INCREASE THE LIKELIHOOD OF A CRASH OR A FIRE COULD RESULT”.

Subaru will notify owners of the 195,080 affected Outback and Legacy vehicles by the end of November. As expected, dealers will replace defective components free of charge and owners are urged to contact Subaru for more info.

OWNERS MAY CONTACT SUBARU AT 1-800-782-2783.

Notes:
SUBARU’S SAFETY RECALL NUMBER IS WVV-32. OWNERS MAY ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION’S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV .
