Australia: Hyundai recorded 6400 of its i30 hatchbacks have been sold in June, driven by a deal basement $19,990 drive-away cost that was $7000 off its RRP.
The last time any automobile reached such a high monthly sales number was in June 2005, when the Holden Commodore provided 6800 automobiles to new houses.
The Hyundai i30’s sales number, which is more than 3 times the monthly average for the automobile, has sparked widespread market speculation that not all automobiles were provided to customers and that a large percentage were “cyber cars”, vehicles that have been reported as offered but not delivered or registered.
Contrary to understanding, new-car sales figures are self-reported by car dealers and the vehicle market.
Although brand-new automobiles can not be counted two times, the sales figures are not based upon actual registrations.
Hyundai dealers who talked to News Corp Australia on condition of anonymity stated the i30 sales numbers in June were “fairly straight” and not as bad as some other brands that were asking us to call vehicles (state them as offered).
Main sales figures for June are yet to be released by the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries by early next week. However the initial information is based on accurate data shared by automobile makers at the end of every month.
