Immortus is the first solar powered car in the world. EVX is in collaboration with Swinburne University of Technology to build the car. EVX is an electric automobile startup company based in Australia. The car is eco friendly as it relies on the power of the sun to operate. There are solar panels on the roof of the car. The solar range capacity of the panels is 550 km. Whenever the car is exposed to sunlight, the solar panels will be charged. With the Immortus solar powered car, drivers don’t have to go to petrol station to buy petrol anymore. Immortus can travel at a speed of 0 – 60 mphs within a time frame of 7 seconds.
Currently, EVX is not receiving any funding from the government. Despite that, they have made significant progress in the research and development. The leader of the project is Dr. Clint Steele. Immortus is ony a concept car now. It is believed that they are coming up with a prototype to exhibit at the upcoming SEMA show 2015. The car will be priced at $370,000 when it is released. The car will be a legal street car in Australia and USA. If they managed to raise enough funds, they will come up with a full scale version of the car in the latter part of 2016.
