Kia Finishing Compact Crossover to Compete Mazda CX-3, Honda HR-V, Jeep Renegade

by SpeedLux

Kia will be signing up with the fray in the sub-compact crossover sector, Australia’s Motoring reports. The automaker could introduce a challenger to the Mazda CX-3, Jeep Renegade, Honda HR-V, and Toyota C-HR as soon as 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show.

Kia Australia COO Damien Meredith informed Motoring the brand-new CUV will ride on the exact exact same platform as the upgraded Rio, and Kia will develop the 2 compacts alongside each other, in South Korea. Kia hasn’t gotten so far as calling the brand-new crossover.

According to Motoring, the Rio-based CUV might hit the marketplace in the 3rd quarter of 2017, which would put it several months behind the redesigned Rio. While that is about the Australian market, a launching at Los Angeles and perhaps in January 2017 at Detroit might cause a similar timeline for a United States on-sale date.
