TVR is making a comeback with an American V8

by Ionut Dragomir

PistonHeads reports that TVR’s Russian owner Nikolai Smolenki plans to unveil an all-new model ‘within months’, possibly at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July although they don’t rule out that it could be even sooner.

Mr. Smolenski also plans to sell the TVR for the first time in the States, which is the number one market for sports cars in the world. Previous TVR’s featured in house built engines, but the new model will get an American V8. Crate engine either by Ford or GM will help the company save millions of dollars in development costs.

Most likely new TVR will get a GM sourced LS7 with 505 hp or the 638 hp LS9 from the Corvette ZR1.

Production is rumored to move from Blackpool, UK to Germany. Stay tuned for more details!
