The new 2011 Mercedes-Benz GL350 Bluetec: Big is beautiful

by Alex

The GL even though large in dimension has impeccable road manners, which indeed comes as a big surprise for a vehicle this big. It may not be as sporty as the Audi Q7 in looks but on roads with imperfections you cannot just keep back your smile of appreciation at the manner this big daddy of a vehicle tackles almost any road surface that you throw at it. The GL is not even as tough to tow another car like the Chevrolet Suburban can. It is the road performance aspect that it beats everyone else hollow.

The design of the car allows the person behind the wheel get the feeling of driving with command over the incoming natural scenario, this while cocooned in ultimate luxury and silence. There is also ample space to stow luggage once the third row seats which are two in number have been removed. Along with the power tailgate and its smooth function this one makes for a nice weekend break car too.

Noise due to the familiar diesel rattle or odor of diesel was also missing and shifting gears with the transmission system which is an automatic one was hardly noticeable. Fuel economy is near about 20 and this along with good power and torque factors.

High quality material has been used to do up the interior and the bucket seats up front are very comfortable. There is AM, FM and satellite radio features built into the center console which makes it a bit of a crowded affair, but one would get used to it easily.

With the roomy space and running on diesel this is one great luxury car to have.
