Mercedes-Benz is taking a look at energy alternatives should Russia cut gas deliveries.

The automaker is working closely with German officials to ensure energy supplies, the premium automaker’s top executive said on Friday.

“Every company is taking a look at options for diversifying energy sources,” CEO Ola Kaellenius told Reuters TV.

“It is still too early to say exactly which scenario will happen, but of course, we are carefully looking at this.”

Russian company Gazprom cut off gas supplies to Poland and Bulgaria this week as these countries failed to make payments in the Russian ruble. They have threatened to do the same to others.

Germany has not been affected so far, but given the circumstances, some in Germany are trying to prepare for such a situation.
