Starting price of the Touareg from Volkswagen has been fixed at £38,255 in the UK, the German car maker has announced. The car would be 200 kg less by weight than the model it is going to replace while also being 20 mm longer.
The model as per Volkswagen would come in three options of engine installed. One would be the 237 bhp , 3.0 liter V6 TDI option. The other being the 335 bhp 4.2 liter V8 TDI and the third engine option comprises of 375 bhp petrol electric 3.0 liter TSI hybrid. All of them however come with the eight speed automatic gearbox and have been claimed to be 20 percent more efficient by Volkswagen.
The SE version which forms the entry level model is priced at £38,255 and has a combined fuel economy of 38.2 mpg and CO2 emission levels of 195 g/km. The hybrid engine model on the other hand has a price of £54,995 with fuel economy of 34.4 mpg and CO2 emissions of 193 g/km. The entry level model with its competitive price factor is being considered by Volkswagen as its best seller. The models would all have standard interior fits, like the leather seats, touch screen, SAT NAV with DAB radio and a burr walnut interior trim.
Booking for the standard version of the car has started in the UK and delivery is likely to begin from October this year. Booking for the hybrid model commences next month.
