Jaguar XKR Goodwood special was more of an experimental or a research oriented project. The car was built last year with the idea being to permit the engineers to explore and test the limits of performance that could be achieved. In the end, what eventually came out is a model that turned out to be the fastest XKR ever to be produced though it has been made clear the XKR Goodwood would never be converted into the XKR-R that was long being rumored.
The standard Jaguar XKR has a 5.0 liter supercharged V8 delivering 503 HP as we all know. The special edition is supposed to be coming out with a 530 hp or more installed on it. Jaguar has been tight lipped on the exact power figures that the XKR in its Goodwood guise would be making.
The changes to be seen on the XKR Goodwood that would differentiate it from the standard model is a lowered suspension and alloy wheels of 21 inch dimensions. The exhaust system has also been tweaked to echo more sound and some change in the body parts is also expected to give it a new look. A front splitter and bigger rear wing is expected to figure among these alterations. However, the original paint scheme of the Jaguar XKR, that of Goodwood Special Lime green would most probably be dropped.
The car zips fast, with top speeds of 186 kmph. It has been doing the testing laps of the Nurburing and it has completed the circuit in 7 min 58 seconds. This makes it just seconds behind the Saburu Impreza WRX STI and the Porsche Panamera Turbo.
