The Italian brand makes its entrance into the U.S. automarket with FF, 612 Scaglietti’s successor, which was brought last week to Chicago as a part of a national marketing program. From a total of 36 U.S. Ferrari retailers, two of them are located in Chicago, the Lake Forest and Continental Autosports. Probably each retailer will receive two FFs to deliver at by end of the year.
The Italian brand’s flagship, the 660-horsepower FF will find perhaps 200 U.S. owners in 2012. Ferrari’s best-selling California sales “easily triple that,” Carver said.
This car debuted last January, but its debut wasn’t a truly succes because the hatchback’s profile rankled enthusiasts. Still, Ferrari defends its practicality and it says this car offers the choice between taking a ride in the nature along with the family or, going on the other side, it can complete the Fiorano circuit as fast as the Ferrari 599 . In fact, the FF is “as fast around Fiorano as the 599” GTB, presenter Paul Gerrard said.
When we look at this car from the front, it displays a slight resemblance with the 458 Italia, and also shows a similar profile to BMW’s onetime Z4 coupe. Still, even if the brand says it’s a practical car, is obvious that that the adults in the back will have to adopt a uncomfortable position in order to fit inside, but it is better than nothing at all.
Aside from an old-school Chrysler navigation unit, cabin materials impress with plenty of stylish leather and, and with an interior which has better finishes than its “relatives.”
