Spy shots of the 2012 Mercedes Benz ML car even though of a revealing nature clearly show the true car as it was being tested in Germany given the minimal camouflage that the car has. The car is set for launch sometime later in this year.
Mercedes have kept the styling of this new car to be close to its present model and therefore gives an appearance as if the new one is just a face lifted version of the previous one. There are however certain subtle differences like the longer tail lamps, more angular grille in the front, sculpted lines and a boxier look.
The photographer has been able to snap up some interior shots as well and this shows the dashboard which is a completely redesigned one. The center console is quite prominent having new switchgear and a large LCD screen for the infotainment system.
Chassis of the car is the same as that of the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango models. This is indicative of the Daimler-Chrysler partnership that had existed.
For power the expectation is that Mercedes would put into use a 3.5 liter V6 and a 4.6 liter V8 unit. There should also be the usual V6 diesel option also available. There is possibility of a hybrid mix with plug-in capability. The flagship AMG model is expected to have the 5.5 liter twin turbocharged V8 engine replacing the current version’s naturally aspirated 6.2 liter unit.
