If the sources are to believed then, they suggest that, 2014 Buick Verano, a compact sedan will exchange its base Ecotec 2.4-liter engine with a new 1.6-liter turbo engine.
Known internally with different RPO code (internal codes at GM) the engine has been listed as a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder with variable valve timing and direct fuel injection. The reports also claim that, GM had earlier confirmed the news that this displacement would arrive in North America in the future.
So back in Europe, the 1.6-liter turbo gushes out 192 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque, and therefore if the new engine generates similar figures in the Verano, the 1.6-liter turbo would be successfully replacing today’s 2.4-liter, which produces 180 horsepower and 171 lb-ft of torque. This turbo unit generally generates torque at around 1,900 rpm, which makes the option valid for 2014 Buick Verano. Other than the new, 1.6-liter engine, no other significant changes are expected on the 2014 Verano at this time. The car will also keep its recently-added 2.0-liter turbo for higher end trim options.
