Right since its launch back in 1979 the Mercedes G-Class has created a memorable history in the automotive industry. Mercedes is available in four different versions: G, GL, ML and GLK. A fifth version, a small coupe SUV, is expected to be added to the band commencing 2014. This new fifth version would be known as the GLC.
The new Mercedes GLC, codenamed as the X156 would be based on the same front-wheel drive architecture featuring transversely mounted engines similar to the next A and B classes and to be set up in the future BLS. The new GLC measures over 4.40-meters. However, it is not going to be a superscript B-class with all-wheel option. Rather it will be a car having its own identity.
The engines however, will be taken over by the 204 HP 1.8-liter four cylinder gasoline engine of C-Class and E-Class 250 and the 170 HP 2.2-liter four cylinder Diesel 4Matic CGI and the 220 CDI 4Matic engines. Ground clearance, large-sized tires, a larger angle in the front bumper, and a coupe-like roof line are some of the salient features of GLC.
