The much anticipated arrival of the Fiat 500 Abarth in U.S. shores has finally come. The subcompact will be on display at the L.A. Auto Show that will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center in the end of November.
The arrival of the Fiat 500 Abarth to the U.S. can be attributed to the strengthening of ties between European car maker Fiat and US automotive company Chrysler. The agreement has also resulted in the proliferation of Chrysler cars in the European market. It took some months before performance cars from the famous Italian brand to come to the US. But now, the wait is finally over. The announcement came from none other than Chrysler itself.
Full specs of the version of the Fiat 500 Abarth that will be launched in the U.S. are yet to be released but the available information for the car may be enough to get American motor enthusiasts to be excited. It has been reported that it will come with a 1.4 liter MultiAir turbocharged engine. Compared to the European model, the U.S. version of the Fiat 500 Abarth will have upgraded breaks, a sportier suspension and will have a higher level of technology and a much more aggressive appearance.
In Europe, there are actually two versions of the Fiat 500 Abarth, a 130 horsepower and a 160 horsepower variant. The latter model also comes with the Esse–Esse kit. Hopefully, the U.S. version of the popular car will have features similar to the latter model. People will only get to know, for sure, when the L.A. Auto Show opens.
There is a good reason for Americans to get excited for the arrival of the Fiat 500 Abarth. After all, the car has a very rich heritage. It has won 10,000 individual race victories, 10 world records and 133 international titles in its 60 years of existence.
