Volkswagen said accusations made against it by Acer were unfounded, following the report that the Taiwanese company had taken legal action against the German automaker for infringing on its mobile network patents.
It was reported by WirtschaftsWoche on Tuesday that Acer had filed a suit in the U.S. state of Virginia. It is accusing Volkswagen of having only paid for licenses for 2G and 3G patents but had largely installed mobile phone chips with 4G technology in the last two years.
Volkswagen had a license for Acer’s 2G and 3G chip patents but not 4G. The automaker has rejected any wrongdoing.
The automaker said it will decide how to proceed in this matter.
