Tesla Motors recently announced that the upcoming Model X will be offered exclusively with an all-wheel drive arrangement.
Though Tesla’s website shows the Model X listed with RWD and AWD options, Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk declared at a store opening held recently in London that the car will only be offered as all-wheel-drive and so it will be dual-motor all-wheel drive. Also Tesla’s official website lists two battery options for the model – 60 kWh and 85 kWh. Further, he stated that the starting price of Model X will be slightly higher compared to the Model S.
Just to give you a brief, company’s initial plans were to start the production towards the end of this year but now it will commence in late 2014 after the automaker has already made up its mind to start paying back the 465M USD loan taken from the U.S. Energy Department.
In related news, on the same occasion Elon Musk also said that the deliveries of the first right-hand drive Model S units will most likely begin from March and the first car will be delivered by Elon himself to a high-profile customer.
