Officials from Ford Motor came Friday early morning to assist Nortz & Virkler Inc. to commemorate a century in business.
“It’s really, really rare in the industry,” Jim Splendore, Ford’s regional sales manager in New Jersey, stated of the 100-year turning point after providing members of the Nortz family with a plaque memorializing the occasion.
Only 30 other Ford dealers in the U.S. are older than Nortz & Virkler, and the Lowville dealership started in 1916, just 13 years after Henry Ford established his auto business, Mr. Splendore stated.
“They’re almost as old as Ford,” he said.
Mr. Splendore stated he has actually been with Ford for 35 years, and this is the 3rd time he has actually attended a 100-year car dealership celebration. “It’s a tough business,” he stated.
The Ford authorities applauded the Nortz family for its success and company durability.
