Electric vehicle startup Karma Automotive, and its Chinese owner, appear to be planning to construct a factory to make a few of its cars in China, and could use that facility to restore a prepared two-door electric car.
Karma Automotive belongs to Fisker Automotive, which was backed by Silicon Valley financiers and declared bankruptcy after having a hard time to deliver electric automobiles. The company was partly questionable because it lost $139 million in federal loans from the United States Department of Energy.
Chinese automobile parts giant Wanxiang purchased up Fisker’s possessions about 2 years earlier, rebranded and relaunched the business, and now prepares to offer its very first high-end electrical vehicle, the Revero, later on this year. Wanxiang was established by Chinese billionaire Lu Guanqiu.
If Karma Automotive selects to make significant automobiles, especially the Atlantic, in China, it might show questionable. U.S. taxpayer funds helped in the advancement of the Fisker Atlantic. Formerly called Project Nina, the car was initially supposed to be integrated in Delaware and bring jobs to the state.
Karma Automotive has not yet made any comment.
