It is out of the question that Apple, Inc. is not only a mobile tech company. Instead, the company seems to be well capable of manufacturing just about anything with high tech specifications. As a matter of fact, it has recently been reported that this tech company in particular – which is based in San Cupertino, California, US – is actually working on a self-driving electric vehicle. Considering that this information comes from sources that have a close relationship to the US automaker, Tesla, as reported by Reuters, it is safe to assume that this information is accurate.
It is reported that Apple is working on a project codenamed the ‘Titan’ and that several hundreds of people are actually involved in the project. This is reportedly the electric autonomous vehicle project. According to experts in the industry, the US-based tech company has recruited these several hundred people specifically for this project. It seems as if Apple does not really want to receive any help from any automakers, even Tesla, which is also based in the US. It is also reported that Apple is, as of the moment, gathering data related to production methods and components for its supposedly upcoming vehicle model. It is known that this vehicle emphasizes on connected vehicle technology as well as electric power.
Speaking of the Project Titan, Apple has reportedly set up a secret laboratory. This lab was established one year earlier. The lab is reportedly supposed to boast self-driving technology. Based on the information that comes from two sources that are pretty closely related to this matter, the executives from Apple have actually arranged a meeting with an array of contract manufacturers. One of these contract manufacturers is known to be the Magna Steyr, which is based in Austria.
