Aston Martin commited to V12 engines, will resist the hybrid trend – report

by SpeedLux

Aston Martin has still not thought of introducing a hybrid super car in spite of the fact that already quite number of automakers have introduced the hybrid super cars.

Speaking to one of the auto magazines, Aston Martin CEO Dr Ulrich Bez said that hybridization has two aspects, like in F1 to pass someone, which is irrelevant on the road, and the other is to be more fuel efficient. But according to him it is pretty simple; if one drives a little slower one would be much better off.

Instead, he has plans to improve fuel efficiency by making cars lighter and more aerodynamic. As he further states, the company has already improved their fuel efficiency by 30 percent in the last five years just by reducing the weight of the models and improving the efficiency of their engines.

It clearly shows that Bez is a realist as he recognizes that the future will likely bring changes to meet increasingly strict fuel economy and emission standards. As he explained, the V12 engine can still exist for next five to ten years but it won’t necessarily displace six liters as it can be five liters or a smaller one.
