Auction For World’s Most Expensive Car Model to Start at $4.8 million

by Will Parker

If you had the feeling prices have been quite steep so far at IAA 2011, wait until you see the most expensive model car. You can barely put a finger inside it, so it’s not exactly a family car.

The most expensive car model in the world is a 1:8 replica of a Lamborghini Aventador and 12 times more expensive than the original. Does this make sense? The model will be showed in a bullet proof case and under a lot of security.
Robert Gülpen is the one the creator of this expensive piece, he also built shiny expensive small replicas of Aston Martin DBS, Morgan Aero 8 and Mercedes Benz 500 SL.

All of his models contain precious metals and diamonds, and the Aventador model materials alone cost over $2.7 million.
Robert Gülpen used carbon fibre for the exterior just like the real Aventador and added solid gold around the carbon fibres. The steering wheel, headlights and seats are also made of platinum and solid gold and have expensive diamonds inserted.

Guiness already recognized the car as world’s most expensive car model.

The model will be auctioned in December, probably around Christmas, in New York or Dubai, and will have a starting bid of $4.8 million.
